In North Korea, historical destinations such as Kim Il Sung Square, Juche Tower or the Unified Korea Gate have attracted many tourists around the world.
1.The Demilitarized Zone (DMZ)
60 years after war, the demilitarized zone separating North and South Korea has become a tourist attraction. This is considered ‘The scariest place on Earth’. When visiting the DMZ, tourists will have the chance to visit the tunnel that the North Korean created to infiltrate to Korea.
2.The Unified Korea Gate
The Unified gate in Pyongyang was completed in 2001. Right under it is the strictly controlled Unified highway. The gate is two women on traditional custom representing the reunification of North and South Korea.
3.Juche Tower
Juche tower, the symbol of North Korea, is one of the famous tourist attractions in North Korea. In front of the tower is a human statue holding three symbols of the Workers’ Party of Korea (North Korea) : a hammer, a sickle and a pen. Tourists can go up to the top of the tower for sightseeing or seeing the panoramic view of the city.
4.The Monument to the Founding of the North Korean Workers’ Party
On the same road with Juche tower is the Monument to Party Founding on first years of the 90s to celebrate the founding of the North Korean Workers’ Party.
5.Kim Il Sung Square
Kim Il Sung square is located right in the Central District of Pyongyang and is named after the famous North Korean’s leader. The square’s grand opening was in March, 1945 on the west side of Taedong river. Kim Il Sung Square is where all the meetings, festivals and inspections take place.
