The Signature Middle-Eastern Culture in Dubai.

Dubai is not only a world trade centre but also a relaxing tourism destination. Let’s find out about the Dubai culture and people!


Dubai culture is the combination of traditional culture and modern culture and is known as the ‘international culture’ with many immigrants from Persia, India,... Though Dubai people mostly speak Arabic, many other languages are used to communicate in daily life as well. Students when studying at school learn several different foreign languages.



Shaking hands with the opposite gender is a part of the Dubai culture. However, some men and women don’t shake hands with the opposite gender, this is also a signature cultural characteristic of the Middle-East. If you are male, don’t shake hand with women unless they want to shake hands with you first. Instead of shaking hands, some people place palm of the hand on their hearts – a way to say ‘Thank You’. To agree, it’s best to say ‘Assalam U Alaikum’ (Peace and God bless you).



Countries in the United Arab Emirates are banned to drink alcohol in public. However, if you are not Muslim, you’ll need a special certificate to consume alcohol at home. Drink alcohol in public is illegal.

If you refuse when offered tea, coffee or some kinds of drink by Dubai people or the Arabs, you are disrespect them. When eating or offering food to any Dubai people, use right hand instead of left hand to show your respect.
